Victory — Terms of Use

Last updated: 17 September 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Marnu van Niekerk, an individual developer (“we”, “us”), covering your use of the Victory mobile app. By using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

1. Who may use Victory

You must be at least 18 years old to use Victory. The app is rated 17+ because it discusses pornography and sexual behaviour, though it never depicts explicit content.

2. What Victory is — and what it is not

Victory is not medical care, therapy, or professional counselling, and it is not a substitute for any of them. It is a self-help tool combining habit tracking, Scripture, and peer accountability.

Nothing in the app is a diagnosis or treatment of any condition, including compulsive sexual behaviour disorder. Information about the effects of pornography is drawn from published research that is still developing and in places contested; we present it as what studies suggest, not as settled fact or as a prediction about you.

If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself, or need clinical help, please contact your local emergency number or a qualified professional. Victory cannot help you in an emergency.

3. Your account

The app creates an anonymous account when you first open it, and you may optionally sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not share it. Tell us promptly at marnu.v.n@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Some features require a paid subscription. Current plans, prices, and billing periods are shown in the app before you buy — prices vary by country and are set in your store account's local currency.

5. Accountability partners and content you create

If you pair with an accountability partner, you choose what is shared with them: your current streak, and relapse alerts if you switch those on. You can unpair at any time.

You keep ownership of everything you write in the app — journal entries, prayers, check-in notes. You grant us only the permission needed to store and display that content back to you and, where you have opted in, to your partner. We do not publish it, sell it, or use it to train anything.

When interacting with a partner, do not harass, threaten, abuse, impersonate, or send sexual content to them, and do not share content that is illegal. You can block, report, or unpair a partner from inside the app. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break this section.

6. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the app or its servers; do not use it to break the law; and do not try to access another person's account or data.

7. Scripture

Bible text in the app is the World English Bible and the King James Version, both in the public domain.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using Victory at any time and delete your account from Settings → Delete my account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. Ending your access does not by itself cancel or refund a subscription — cancel that through your store account.

9. Disclaimers

The app is provided “as is”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will produce any particular result. Recovery outcomes depend on many things outside the app's control.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud, where the law does not permit such a limit.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will update the date above and notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Victory after that means you accept the updated terms.
